Abuse. Neglect. Broken homes. Children being raised by someone other than their mother or father. We see it everywhere. All you have to do is watch the news and you will see another case of a child injured (or worse) at the hands of someone that was supposed to care for them, love them and protect them. We live in a broken society that no longer values life, especially the life of the innocent and defenseless.
Scripture is clear about what we are to do as believers. Isaiah 1:17 tells us “learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.” James 1:27 is even clearer on what God considers acceptable, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
We can’t all be on the front lines fighting this in tangible ways. But God has told us clearly that our battle is not against flesh and blood – it’s against the unseen. We can all fight this battle on our knees, pleading the cause of the helpless. Please pray with me that children will be protected from harm – physical, mental and emotional. Pray with me that God will provide healing for those that have been impacted by abuse and broken homes. Pray that they would open their hearts to a Heavenly Father that can restore them and use them for his purposes.
Children are able to find God’s hope at the Released Time Bible Program and Summer Camp. Encourage children you know to come and find hope and healing. They can register now for Released Time and a Christian summer camp experience at Joy El Camps and Retreats this summer. God brings healing in Released Time and at summer camp.
