Miriam Ankerbrand

Group Events Coordinator / Bookkeeper

After serving as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 21 years, Miriam now serves in the dual roles of Group Events Coordinator and Bookkeeper here at Joy El. Miriam grew up just 8 miles away from Joy El and participated in Released Time and attended camp as a child. Now living in Greencastle, Miriam shares her home and life with husband David, daughter Katie, and has recently moved her parents, Richard and Karen in with them. She also includes in her family two cats, Cali and Pepper. When she’s not connecting with group leaders and others at the office, she enjoys singing, Bible journaling, writing, and needlework including quilting. Miriam has also maintained her nursing license and sometimes helps the camp nurse when it’s very busy! Miriam has also had training in grief counseling and is an advocate for people with “invisible diseases,” such as fibromyalgia, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and arthritis – which Miriam also has dealt with on a daily basis. Miriam’s favorite passage from scripture is Psalm 121, from which she finds comfort and strength. She also enjoys Psalm 54:4 – “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
